Stomp is a unique type of dance show in which group of dancers performs unconventional dance moves and physical dance moves using non-traditional musical instruments. Steve McNicholas and Luke Cresswell, two creators of the show first start presented it on small scale in 1981 and after 10 years of collaboration, Stomp made its first theatrical debut at London’s Bloomsbury Theatre in 1991 and its American debut at Orpheum Theatre in New York in 1994.
Stomp made its Las Vegas debut in 2007 at a $28 million theater specifically build for the production.

Story

Stomp is known for its artistic nature and heavy music, nontraditional music objects, high energy performances and loud sounds are signature of the of dance show. The dance moves are performed according to the music sounds produced by objects.
Stomp dancing takes its audience to a new level of surprise when they see how performers make use of everyday objects like kitchen sink, sand, water, drumsticks, bananas, apples and matches. They also see different objects that we ignore in daily life being used as musical instruments including a soft shoe with broomsticks, buckets, play cards, spoon, plates, keys and other objects from your daily garbage. In simple words they make use of any object that produces sound.
Stomp dance show typically starts with single performer with an unexpected music tool and starts the music while others follow him a pair of two or three on a two level hung scaffolding high above the stage with road signs and automobile parts on it.

Main Cast

The number of performers varies in different stomp productions; the original UK cast was of 8 members while on its website Stomp New York production has 13 members and its touring cast is of 10 performers.

Stomp won many awards including Olivier Award, Drama Desk Award and films on Stomp created by its two creators won many awards in 2004.
